High Ropes, Higher Impact

Building Autonomy, Resilience, and Healthy Communities in Youth Through Challenge

Challenge yourself

Educational studies from the past century prove that we grow the most when we face safe challenges. Programs like Outward Bound were created with this idea in mind, aiming to challenge individuals and teams for positive development. It’s clear that stepping out of our comfort zones and routines with occasional challenges is beneficial.

This is why “camp” is effective—it uses activities like high ropes courses to build strong relationships. Challenges prevent boredom and encourage us to do our best.

These programs are especially important for young people because their main job is to learn and grow. They teach essential skills for adulthood. For adults, it means trying new things and staying open to learning throughout life.

FAQ

We anticipate breaking ground for the challenge course in the spring of 2025.

Currently, we are planning on placing the new course where our retired Giant Swing is located as it is near guests and has a lovely hilltop view over Wolfe Lake.  This hill also allows for easier digging and minimizes tree removal.

The IAWAH staff have sent out quote requests to companies that are certified course builders in Ontario. We anticipate hearing back from them in spring 2024. The next step will be working with the companies to finalize a course design that will be different than any other course in Ontario. From there we’ll be able to release a more concrete cost and timeline, complete with a course layout.  Check back here for updates!
